European goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis) perching on burdock thistle sead heads (Arctium sp.). This bird feeds mainly on thistle seeds. Females produce four to six eggs, which hatch after 11- 14 days of incubation. Photographed in Kent, UK, in January.
