This 1880s baseball team pictures ten players and four coaches or assistants. They are posing in a hillside field, surrounded by tree stumps and grasses. Why they did not pose on their playing field, I don't know. The players wear striped caps, black quilted pants, and pull-over black shirts with a single 5-point star on their chests. But one player's shirt says "Rome" instead of a star. So, this team may have been from Rome, Wisconsin, USA, since I bought this photograph only a few counties away.
