A photograph of Tan Hill Inn (Britain's highest Inn at 1,732 feet (528 m) above sea level) as it was in earlier times. It once served as a hostelry for by workers digging coal pits. Its earlier name 'The Kings Pit' reflecting this. It is noted as the first UK public house be granted a licence to hold weddings and civil ceremonies. The pub is constantly 'snowed in' for days during extreme weather.
