Protest in New York to call for the creation of jobs by the government and the extension of unemployment benefits
Protester Brooke McGowen joins members of the National Jobs For All Coalition, the National Organization of Women and other supporters to protest in front of New York Senator Charles Schumer's office in New York on Friday, January 7, 2011 to call for the creation of jobs by the government and the extension of unemployment benefits. The Dept. of Labor announced today that 103,000 jobs were added in December and that the unemployment rate has dropped to percent, which is the lowest in 19 months. However, job growth came up short of expectations and the drop in unemployment was due to people who stopped looking for work, in part. (© Richard B. Levine)
