Obby 'Oss procession in the streets of Padstow Cornwall on May Day
This is a ancient pagan festival that takes place in Padstow on the north Cornish coast on May 'Oss, leaves it stable, usually a pub, with singers,dancers and musicians playing a hypnotic tune. The procession starts in early morning moves through the narrow lanes and culminates in early evening at the May followers are dressed white with either blue or red musicians play accordions,triangles,drums with the singers singing the unique 'May Song' all to celebrate the coming of summer. The participants are decorated with the first flush of spring flowers bluebells, for-get-me-nots,cowslips,catkins and bluebells.
