(A metal tongue depressorshould be boiled after use.) If the doctor uses a headmirror, the light should be in front of him; if not, itshould be behind him. See that he lies straight in the bed,not twisted. Be sure that the bladder has been recentlyemptied. Pull the gown up and fold it smoothly backat about the waist line. Turn all bedding except thesheet back nearly to the knees, and fold the sheet snuglyand smoothly across the pubes and groins. Throw atowel over the part exposed until the doctor is ready. Examination of Lower Limbs.—Fold bed covers upfrom bottom to about the middle of the thighs. Ifthe knees are to be bent, draw a fold of the sheet down EXAMINATIONS. Pelvic Examinations.—A pelvic examination is atrying thing to most women, and the nurse can do muchto make it easier by her own attitude toward it. Berather matter-of-fact, explain that it is an everyday
