Con- sidering all things, business for the month of October was satisfactory, and the present month has opened favor- ably. Little is noticed in the way of receptions just now and weddings and funerals, though plentiful, are of the small kind. The bulb season is in full swing and fair business is being done by most of the florists and seedsmen. Chrysanthemums are quite plentiful and large blooms are seen. There are many choice varieties and all sell well. Among them are Oconto, Pacific Su- preme, Bounaffon, Chrysolora, Touset, William Turner and Queen. The va- riety of pompons is equally large and the demand for these is good. Fairy Queen is ever popular, as are Alma and Minta. Pink and white Ivory are arriving each day. The supply of roses is large and the prices somewhat lower. Some good long-stemmed Ophelia and Montrose roses reach us daily and sell well. Eus- sell, Francis Scott Key, Sunburst, Hoosier Beauty and Ward roses are plentiful and sell nicely. Violets are larger and more fragrant, and conse- quently are more salable. Carnations are improving in quality, but the supply is not overlarge. Orchids are plentiful but move slowly. Valley is satisfactory. Bachelor's buttons and cosmos arrive and are found most use- ful. Some good cyclamens, primulas and begonias are in the market and find ready sales. The supply of green goods meets all requirements. Various Notes. S. Seligman, of the American Bulb Co., Chicago, called on the trade during the week. Schuyler Arnold, of the Crescent Seed Farm, Spencerport, N. Y., has purchased a new delivery car. Art Beyers has left the employ of J. B. Keller Sons and has left for his former home at Erie, Pa., to take an extended rest. A fine chrysanthemum show now is on at the Lamberton Conservatories, Highland park. The exhibition is fully eq
