Under a thinner layer of food soil it was meters deep Pinnmo down to the lime mountain. The surface on top of the lime mountain was generally planed with horizontal and vertical cracks. The excavator detached and loaded the soil on trucks. Two men followed the excavator and shoved out the soil that the machine could not bring in the bucket. Lime Mountain was then drilled and blasted another 3 meters deeper, after which the limestone scrap with the excavator was loaded on trucks. Part of this material was used as a basis for roads and streets. To the left of the picture half a meter below the ground surface, boards are visible. They constituted protection over national cable from Stockholm and south. Omkring mitten av 1940-talet började allmänt grävmaskiner användas vid schakt av husgrunder. Grävmaskinen på bilden utför schakt till panncentralen i kvarteret Lien, Wettterlinsgatan 19. Panncentralen betjänar 260 lägenheter i kvarteren Plogen, Harven, Lien och Räfsan med värme och varmvatten. Under ett tunnare lager av matjord var det 3,5 meter djup pinnmo ned till kalk-berget. Ytan ovanpå kalkberget var i allmänhet plan med horisontala och vertikala sprickor. Grävmaskinen lösgjorde och lastade jorden på lastbilar. Två män följde grävmaskinen och skyfflade fram den jord som maskinen inte kunde få med i skopan. Kalkberget borrades sedan och sprängdes ytterligare 3 meter djupare, varefter kalkstensskrotet med grävmaskinen lastades på lastbilar.
