The father remained in active life untilabout nineteen years ago, when he removed toPlainfield. where he now owns and occupies acomfortable home. Mr. Smith was married in Kendall county. Illi-nois, on the 29th of April, 1856, to Miss Eliza-beth Bronk, who was bom in New York and wasbrought to Illinois by her parents, when four yearsof age, the family locating in Kendall PAST AX J) PRESENT OF WILL COUNTY. 023 She was burn in the town of Queens on theHudson, and her parents, Ephraim and Char-lotte (Van Dolson) Bronk, were fanning peo-ple. They continued residents of Kendallcount} until called to their final rest. Their fam-ily numbered five children: Elizabeth, now ; Peter A., a farmer residing in Willcounty; Mrs. Mary Brown, a widow living in Willcounty; John, whose home is in Kendall county;and Amelia, the wife of Solon Smith, a brotherof our subject and a resident of Santa Barbara,California. Unto Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Smith have beenborn five children. Helena H. became the wifeof Frank Wenell and died February 23, 1899,while Mr. Wenell died in May. 1902. They leftthree children, Frank, Sarah and Myrtle, who areresidents of Chicago. Sarah Smith became thewife of Willard T. Brown, of Will county, andthey have two children. Ruby and Lee.
