The restored water mill and mill pond in the small ancient hamlet of Urval in the Dordogne region of France.

The restored water mill in the small hamlet of Urval in the Dordogne region of France. The mill grew up as part of a feudal system dating from the middle ages. The local lord owned the mill and the communal oven. He then charged the local people a tax to mill their grain (or buy his flour) and another charge for the bread from his ovens. This system was in place in parts of rural France until the time of the revolution.
