In his paper, he had written that the pus-tules were seldom white, but more commonly blue, andgenerally surrounded by more or less of an erysipelatousinflammation, but the published Inquiry reads:— At their first appearance, they are commonl}^ of a palishblue, or rather of a colour somewhat approaching to livid, andare surrounded by an erysipelatous inflammation.
