One of the most wholesome of all vegetables, easily digested, and said to be a cure for kidney disease; eaten at any time un- cooked. Few people are aware of the benefit of the radish to tr^e system. No good garden should be without them. Sow for a succession crop eveiy two weeks, in rows about 12 inches apart, from March to July, which will give a daily supply for the table. For an early supply they may be sown in greenhouse or hot-bed any time during the winter. Long Bright Scarlet. Valuable for market on account of its extraordinary earlinees, being fit for use in 25 days from sowing; remarkably bright in color, of a fiery scarlet not given SQUASH. Light soils are best suited for their growth. Prepare bills for seed in the ordinary manner, by mixing 2 or 3 shovelfuls of well- rotted manure with the soil for each hill. For the bush varieties, from 3 to 4 feet each way, and for the running sorts from 6 to 8 feet. Af- ter they have attained their rough leaves thin out to 3 or 4 of the strongest plants.
