The Guard's primary role is to clear debris to allow for passage of Fire, Ambulance, and Police vehicles. In Northern Westchester, they are presently working closely with ConEd in Bedford Hills and Armonk to expedite power restoration for their customers. Upon receipt of a request originating from Westchester OEM, Joint Task Force Sandy, based at Camp Smith assigned the mission to TF 204th to assist with tree removal in over a dozen townships. Soldiers receive prioritized areas of operations and are moving from town to town once ConEd ensures lines are de-energized. The 204th EN BN is based in Binghamton, NY and this is the second consecutive year the Battalion has had a prolonged Civil Support Mission for the residents of New York State. (Capt.
