The model stands on a sunken ship. Honolulu, Hawaii: STUNNING photos show a freediver thirty feet underwater against a shipwreck. Captured by experienced freedivers, these images show a model interacting with abandoned wrecks with no oxygen tanks. Standing on the wrecks, the model encapsulates themselves into the sunken history, creating incredible images. The Corsair plane was a training plane in WWII. Due to a mechanical failure, the plane crashed into the ocean in 1948 and found its permanent home on the sea floor. There are many famous wrecks in the Waikiki area in Hawaii such as the Sea Tiger or the Y0 plane. These photos were taken by freediving instructor Mitchell Brown (28) in Honolulu, Hawaii using a Sony A7RIV camera. ?Me and Sava have been doing this together for years. We know the timing and when we have to leave the surface to be able to line up five to ten seconds on the bottom for these shots,? said Mitchell. ?Before the shot, we will be relaxing our bodies and heart rates so we will be able to hold our breath longer. This is commonly referred to as the ? breath up?. ?Fish will commonly rally to a wreck because they view it as a place of safety. ?Most of these wrecks in Hawaii are created on purpose as artificial reefs. These reefs support all sorts of life on One image shows the propeller of the plane, having decomposed and become engulfed into ocean life, with a school of fish swimming in and out of the old engine. The corsair plane wreck lies 30 feet underwater. The plane sunk to the ocean floor predominantly undamaged and forms part of the artificial reef. The pilot escaped the plane unharmed. ?I love how they look almost otherworldly,? said Mitchell. ?It?s pretty surreal. When you?re on the sea floor looking up a 20-30 foot wreck you feel pretty small. ?It feels like you?re flying. It?s a unique feeling for me to be able to change the angle of my subject in whatever way I want to. ?Communication is primarily done at the surface beforehand.
