More than 6000 runners of all ages and abilities took part in Glasgow's Annual "Santa Dash" Fun Run of 5k around the city centre. The runners were all dressed in Santa suits and a beard, starting and finishing in George Square. This fun run started in 2006 and has raised over £100,000 for various charities and this year the nominated charity was the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. Next year is the tenth anniversary of the run and it is hoped to have 10,000 runners take part.
Runners took part in the Annual Santa dash charity run, starting from George Square in the city centre and then running through many roads and streets around the city for a distance of 5 kilometres and finishing in George Square. Runners are expected to run in Santa costume or a costume associated with Christmas / Santa. The runners' entrance fee includes the Santa suit and a contribution to the nominated charity. Many of the runners are sponsored to raise more funds for charities.
