So great was the demand for fuel to keep theships going with supplies for the troops, for movingtroops and for feeding the allies that there was a short-age in this country. The mines were unable to produceenough coal to meet the situation and to make mattersmore acute the worst January in history produced twentydays of snow. Richard Jenkinson, of Newark, was named fuel ad-ministrator for New Jersey and Charles K. Haddon, ofHaddonfield, was named a member of the State FuelCommittee. Walter J.
