These bacilli belong to one and the same species; they are motile, either oval or even coccus-like; some few are rod-shaped. By cultivation on gelatine they can be easily obtained in numerous colonies from the san- guineous juice of the lung and liver ; only in few cases are they to be seen in the heart's blood, both in cover-glass.
