French soldiers of the 68th Infantry Regiment in a front line dug-out at Ravin de Souchez during World War One, circa October 1915. Four months earlier the French army launched an assault from the ravine that runs from Souchez to Neuville-Saint-Vaast. The men of the Moroccan Division, managed to gain a foothold on Vimy Ridge, but lacked sufficient reinforcements.
