The boys of the Forty-firstcame from Washington, Oregon, North Dakota,South Dakota, Colorado, New Mexico, Montana,Idaho and Wyoming. The Forty-second was thewell known Rainbow division composed of troopsfrom 26 states. For five hours the guns of the American andFrench armies pounded the enemy with a bom-bardment of intensity, greater even than that be-fore the St. Mihiel offensive. Then the tanks went ///^\/.
