The father of our subjectwas born in this city, where he learned his fa-thers business and followed the trade all his former years he was a Whig, and after the or-ganization of the Republican party became its firmadherent. He was called from his labors in May,1882, when he had reached the age of sixty-fiveyears, but his wife survived him for ten years, dy-ing in April, 1892, in her seventy-third year. Oftheir five children, the eldest, Frederick, is a car-penter, and the others in order of birth are as fol-lows: Henry, Charles, G. Samuel and Mary C. Mr. Flick, of this sketch, attended school only.
