The front facade of the Villa Torrigiani in its distinctive colours taken from grey stone and ochre plasterwork.

The Villa Torrigiani is first mentioned in 1593. It was rebuilt in the baroque style at the end of the seventeenth century by Nicola Santini, probably in imitation of the architecture of Versailles. Two new wings were built and the front, shown here, modified. It stands out from other Tuscan Villas because of its multi-coloured facade, using different materials, grey stone, tufa, white marbe statues and ochre plaster- work. The parapets on the windows and openings also add to this sense of difference.
