Abingdon on Thames, Oxfordshire, England, has claims to be the oldest inhabited town in England, having been occupied from the early to middle Iron Age and through the Roman occupation. Its tiny Elizabethan-style Friends of Abingdon Unicorn Theatre, housed in the old medieval Abbey buildings, is the site of first productions of many stage adaptations of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, undetaken by Stephen Briggs.
