Details of Combination Trailer Truck and Equalizer 13 ft. llj-8 in., but the indications from the tests were that as thetube length is increased there is a corresponding increase in effi-ciency and a decreasing possibility of forcing the boiler study of these tests led to the selection of a length of IS the tubes. Beyond such a length, little is gained in increasedevaporation, though efficiency will continue to increase. The15 ft. tubes in the latest boiler increase the ratio of length to sq. ft. and, if the ratio of 1^ for the superheater surface is ac-cepted, this gives an equivalent heating surface for the boilerof sq. ft. The boiler is fitted with a brick arch carried on three watertubes, and the grate is arranged with a slope of about 1 per centtowards the front. The construction provides ample depth atthe throat, and the use of the shallow combustion chamber
