The Coronation Chair, c1937. Known historically as St Edward's Chair or King Edward's Chair, is the chair on which British monarchs sit when they are invested with regalia and crowned at their coronations. It was commissioned in 1296 by King Edward I (1239-1307) to contain the the Stone of Scone.
