A view of the "Hermione" frigate replica (bow), in a graving dock of the Rochefort harbour. The original frigate got under way on the 10th March 1780 for the "American campaign" and reached Boston on the 27th April with the marquis de la Fayette aboard; the latter was missioned by king Louis XVI in order to support the American president George Washington.
