Business the week before Thanks- giving was very quiet while the stocks kept coming along as if there wis a large demand; in consequence the prices sagged, particularly on carna- tions and medium roses which could be bought in quantity at very low figures. The weather was very mild which pushed along the stock in spite of all the growers could do. Ameri- can Beauty roses were an exception as good stock was scarce and prices advanced. The same was true of orchids and gardenias, cattleyas sell- ing for 60 cents and gardenias 50 cents straight. Chrysanthemums showed signs of waning, several of the grow- ers saying they would be cut out dur- ing the week. For the most part they have brought very fair prices and the market at no time has been greatly overstocked. Yellow and White Chad- wick, Bonnaffon, Maud Dean, Lynn- wood Hall, Jerome Jones, Dear Friend and Jeanne ITonin, were the leaders, some magnificent flowers of the latter variety being in. As a reminder that Christmas is not far away, good poinsettias are offered both in pots and cut. Carnations had rather a hard time of it the warm weather making them soft and sleepy; a week or so of cold and they will be all right.
