This was the dawn of legislative liberty in who had been dependent on the fickle will of a governordemanded a code of laws based on those of England. Such acode came over in 1621. It was a form of government awayoutside of the harsh and narrow provisions of the it the colony got a parliament, very like that of Virginia was the Virginia of the colonists. It wastheir country, and their country reached from North Carolina toHalifax, and as far west as imagination chose to go.
