About one hun-dred acres of it, however, are very productive;and here are raised all the necessary vegeta-bles, potatoes, fruit, wheat, buttei, beef, andpork consumed on the place. There are sixtyinmates in the institution, that are comfort-ably and kindly cared for; and through theliberal appropriations made by various boardsof supervisors of the county, the Board ofSuperintendents of the Poor and the Keeperhave caused the buildings to be placed in suchcondition that there is an atmosphere of home. The main iniilding istwo stories high, measures forty by forty-fourfeet, with kitchen, dining-room, and laundryextending back for a distance of two hundredfeet, while the mens building, connected bya covered corridor on the east, measures thirtyby sixty feet, and the womens building, con-nected by a covered corridor on the west,measures thirty by sixty. In the rear is thatpart of the establishment which is devoted tothe feeble-minded.
