It is then placed in liquid albolene until it is clear enough for strong light to pass through. It is usually left in this oil over night. 4. The vessel containing the oil is placed upon a sand- bath and the temperature raised during one hour to 3200 F., which is maintained for a second hour. It is then placed in sterile jars or, if iodin catgut is desired, placed in the following: 5. Iodin Catgut.—The thread is then lifted with a sterile forceps and the gut placed in a mixture of 1 part iodin crystals and 100 parts Columbian spirits (deodorized methyl alcohol).
