A severe drought has lowered the water levels in the middle section of the Yangtze River as seen in this picture taken on 03 June 2011, Chinas largest, to near record low, local authorities said. The drought has plagued provinces including Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi along the Yangtze and Jialing river. In the January-April period, the Yangtze River basin had received 40 percent less rainfall than the average amount over the last 50 years
