The Army Corps of Engineers works with local, state and federal partners in areas affected by Hurricane Ian. Jacksonville District Commander Col. James Booth met with Sanibel Island Mayor Holly Smith to discuss the response. Mayor Smith and her team established an Emergency Operations Center out of two hotel rooms in Fort Myers, they were without power and water.
