Avel Safronovich Enukidze (1877 - 1937) - Russian revolutionary, Soviet statesman and politician. Member of the CPSU (b), member of the Central Executive Committee, secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR. He was a delegate to the 6th, 8th, 9th, 11th and 17th Party Congresses. Member of the Central Control Commission of the CPSU (b) (1924-1934). Member of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) (1934-1935). Godfather of Joseph Stalin's wife Nadezhda Alliluyeva. He was shot in 1937, rehabilitated posthumously.
