The firm of Harvey Fisk & Sons was founded by Har-vey Fisk, March 26, 1885, in connection with his threeoldest sons, Harvey Edward, Charles J. and Pliny Fisk. In1890 his fourth son, Alexander G. Mr. Fisk this had associatedwith him in business all of his sons. Mr. ]isk was born inNew Haven, Vermont, April 26, 1S31. His father was aPresbyterian clergyman and both of his parents were of oldNew England stock, the Fisk family having settled inMassachusetts in 1637. His early boyhood was spent onthe shores of Lake Chami)lain, at Essex, N. Y.; afterwardsthe family removed to Canada. Mr. Fisk received an school and academic education. At the early age offifteen he was an instructor in French in Bakersfield Acad-emy, thus paying by his services for tuition in other seventeen years of age we find him ajiprenticed to amerchant in Trenton, New Jersey ; a few years later hesecured a position in the Mechanics Bank of New YorkCity, and when the Bank of the Commonwealth wasorganized he became paying teller in that institution.
