The growing sentiment among our patrons that the course of study wastoo long for those girls who do not intend to become teachers led to theadoption of a new course in the spring of 1893, which yields to this demandIdv cutting down the old preparatory and regular courses each one year ; butby the addition of three post-graduate courses of two years each, the realstandard of the school is not practically lowered. That an actual need forthese changes existed is proved by the fact that ten of the girls graduating inJune, with six graduates from other schools, are now^ taking this post-graduatework. To bring the school into closer relations with the common schoolsystem, graduates from the higher common school (Koto Sho Gakko) arereceived into the preparatory without examination.
