Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria, SEM
Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Pluralibacter gergoviae (formerly Enterobacter gergoviae) bacteria. This Gram-negative, motile, facultatively-anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium is resistant to several antibiotics. It is also resistant to parabens, a common antimicrobial agent added to cosmetic products. It rarely causes disease in people, but can cause opportunistic nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections in those with a compromised immune system. Magnification: x9,000 when printed at 15cm wide.
