The fruit is of most excellent flavor, having the taste and aroma of the best varie- ties of the wild Strawberry. Its form is very attractive, and its color a rich, dark red ; very uni- form in size and easy to hull. The vines are very strong and thrifty in appearance, also ex- tremely hardy and very pro- ductive. Under ordinary culture, 1,000 quarts of fruit have been grown on a plot of land sixty feet squareâthis being at the rate of over 12,000 qts. per acre. § per doz.; § per 100. New Early Strawberry.âVAN DEMAN. An extra early perfect flowering variety, a seedling of Crescent, crossed â with Captain Jack. After having been tested at twenty-seven State experiment stations, the following report from New York State is a sample of many favorable reports : '" This is the best extra early variety ever tested on the Station grounds. The first picking of three quarts of any one variety was picked from this, and it continued in bearing for twenty-one days, ripening the bulk of its fruit, however, in ten days. The vigor of the plants is good, growth stocky, and fruit hid beneath the dark foliage ; berries a showy glossy scarlet, with yellow seeds, firm and tart.
