Employees of LUSH Cosmetics, wearing nothing but "barrels", protest against the mining of oil from Canadian Tar Sands

Employees of LUSH Cosmetics, wearing nothing but "barrels", protest against the mining of oil from Canadian Tar Sands in New York on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. The extraction of oil from the sludge-like sands involves open pit mining and deforestation as well as creating a product that produces three times more greenhouse gas emissions than conventional oil. The cosmetics company has launched a postcard campaign to stop the project and is using their windows to showcase images of deforestation and open pit mining. (© Richard B. Levine)
