Feb 16, 2004 - The famous red chochin lantern of the Kaminari Mon (Gate of Thunder) has the Japanese words for Kaminari Mon written on it. The lamp is 4 metres tall, measures metres in circumference and is a restauration that was donated by Konosuke Matsushita, the founder of Matsushita Corporation in 2003. The gate was built in 942 by Taira No Kinmasa and provides access to the Nakamise Dori in the historic district Asakusa at Tokyo's Taito ward.
