Sanquhar's former lemonade factory has been converted over eight years by the artist and filmmaker David Rushton. Rushton's Bothy offers a major architectural contribution to sustainable small-scale low-cost living/conversion. Inspired by Kurt Schwitters MERZBau in Elterwater, Cumbria and Schwitters' work on montage and assemblage, the opening celebrates the seventieth anniversary of Schwitters' most significant artistic contribution in the UK.
