Molecular model of Asparagine (C4. H8. N2. O3), a pH neutral, polar and genetically coded amino acid involved in the metabolic control of cell functions in nerve and brain tissue. It is non-essential in humans, meaning the body can synthesize it (asparagine is biosynthesized from aspartic acid and ammonia by the asparagine synthetase enzyme). Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (black), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue) and oxygen (red). Illustration.
