Work was resumedin 1868 until 1877, then the mine was idle until 1884, but hasbeen in constant operation since that year. Total production, about 15,000 flasks. The study of this mine is especially interesting in regard tothe relation of igneous rock and the ore deposition. The oredeposits are found in a belt having a general northwestern 6—QR 82 QUICKSILVER KESOURCES OF CALIFORNIA. direction, lying between basalt to the northeast and serpentineto the southwest. The basalt does not show at the surface ina continuous line; the full red line on the plan of the minerepresents as nearly as possible the line of its vent.
