The nave of the churchevidently had an internal wall arcade, of which elevenbays remain in part on the south side, with traces of astring-course above, and in several places higher in thewall parts of tall shafted lancets have been uncovered,some showing remains of contemporary colour deco-ration. It is evident that many more details are buriedbehind later plaster and panelling, and on the west faceof the western tower arch a patch of well-preservedcolour decoration has been exposed, suggesting thatmuch more yet remains under the modern paint andlimewashing.
