J. G. Huntoon, general manager ofthe Tri-City Railway since 1908,and now a vice-president of thecompany, retired from the activecapacity of manager on Aug. 1. Roderick, present assistant generalmanager, has become general managetof the Tri-City Railway of Illinois. Smith, formerly superintendent ofoverhead construction, has become gen-eral manager of the Tri-City Railwayof Iowa, and Clark G. Anderson, assist-ant general manager of the interurbanlines, has become general manager. Fischer, general manager of theMuscatine Lighting Company, becomesgeneral manager of the Muscatine rail-way lines. These promotions andchanges were referred to briefly in theElectric Railway Journal for July 23. This reorganization means the local-. T. C. Roderick izing of lines in Illinois, Davenport,Muscatine and the interurban linesunder existing heads, in order thatgreater efficiency may be obtained inthe way of relieving the main office ofmuch detail. Each line will be placedunder a separate head and all bookswill be kept in the respective officesfor that line. Mr. Huntoon has desired for sometime to relinquish his duties, but hisresignation was refused by PresidentB. J. Denman, because Mr. Huntoonsservices were considered necessary tothe successful working out of certainmatters. The change that has nowbeen brought about is merely the con-summation of a long effort on the partof the general manager to be relievedof detail work, in order to be free toput into effect broad principles ad-vanced by him for establishing closerpersonal touch with the three cities. Mr. Huntoon is by no means sever-ing all connection with the line, forhe will remain as vice-president of thecompany. He is a railway operato
