(I) Christopher Jose lived at the Isle ofShoals, and was a constable there in 1656, andfrom the Isle went to Portsmouth, and diedabout 1678. By his wife Jane he had Richard,Thomas, Joanna, Margaret or Mary, John,Jane. Samuel and Mary. (II) Richard, eldest son of Christopher andJane Jose, was born November 10, 1660. InAugust, 1699, the new governor-general, theEarl of Bellomont, published his commissionin New Hampshire, and among other officialchanges that took place Richard Jose wasmade sheriff of New Hampshire in place ofWilliam Ardell.
