The interior in the Vroom & Dreesmann department store in 1895 was opened in Nijmegen the first branch of V&D outside the Randstad. The 'brains' behind this department store were the brother -in -law Willem Vroom and Anton Dreesmann. The building was bombed in the Second World War and rebuilt after the war. The new department store opened in 1955. At the height of his success, the chain had more than 70 branches throughout the country. The V&D went bankrupt on Friday 31 December 2015.
