New York National Guard Soldiers of the 42nd Infantry Division pose for a photograph at the Sommepy American Monument July 26, 2018, near Sommepy-Tahure, France. In July 1918, the 42nd “Rainbow” Division served alongside French units near here in the Champagne Defense, which blunted the final advance by the German Army during World War I. National Guard Soldiers were in France July 24-31 as part of the Army’s World War I Centennial Commemoration.
