The old Town Hall, originally the Guildhall, was on the site of Carters Hall Passage in central Oxford in 1292. It was replaced by the first Town Hall in 1752, designed by Isaac Ware. In 1891, an architectural design competition was held for a new building on the same site. The local architect Henry Hare won with a Jacobethan design. City of Oxford, England
