A Saami girl gets dressed in traditional clothes for her confirmation ceremony, Kautokeino, Norway

A Saami girl gets dressed in traditional clothes for her confirmation ceremony, Kautokeino, Norway. She is helped by her aunt, who adjusts the look of her hair. The Saami living in Kautokeino celebrate confirmation and other life cycle ceremonies at Easter time, after which the reindeer herders move with their herds to the Atlantic coast for summer pasture. The traditional tunics that the Saami women wear are made of wool, the scarves of silk and the brooches holding the scarves together in front are made of silver.
