Leaf-tailed gecko (Uroplatus sp.). The Uroplatus geckos are endemic to Madagascar. They are nocturnal and arboreal and are found in forests where they feed on insects. They range in length from 10 to 30 centimetres. Their cryptic colouration and the shape of their tails, allow them to blend into their surroundings, as shown here with the gecko resembling a dead leaf, an example of phytomimesis. Photographed in Madagascar.
