A DEVICE THAT BEARS THE SAME RELATION TOORDINARY TRACK SANDERS THAT THEMODERN AIR BRAKE DOES TO THEOLD FORM OF HANDBRAKE The Valve Mechanism The SUPPLEMENTARY VALVE is attached to the Engineers BrakeValve, and becomes practically a part of the latter. The handle of theSander Valve is immediately above the handle of the Brake Valve, so thatboth valves can be operated at the one time with the same hand. Thismeans that the Sander is under instant control of the motorman at all can be operated with the brake handle in any position, and in no wayinterferes with the latter, so that either the Sander or the Brake Valve canbe operated independently of each other. The Sander Valve is automaticallyopened whenever the brake valve is thrown into the emergency stop position. The INDEPENDENT VALVE is intended as a substitute for the Sup-plementary Valve when a separate or independent valve is desired. It maybe connected int
